Appeal for witnesses following assault in Weymouth

Officers investigating an assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

 

Dorset Police received a report that at 7.20pm on Tuesday 26 August 2025 the victim – a teenage boy – was approached and got into an argument with a man who was unknown to him in Westham Road near the Londis store.

 

It was reported that a second man then confronted the victim, before hitting him on the head and putting his hand around his throat.

The victim attended hospital for treatment to a minor head injury.

 

The second man is described as white, aged in his 50s, six feet tall and of muscular build. He was topless, wearing red or blue shorts and carrying a brown beer bottle. The victim reported that he appeared intoxicated.

 

Police Constable Carl Wood, of Dorset Police, said: “We are investigating this incident, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken to us.

 

“I would also ask any residents of Westham Road to please check their home CCTV or doorbell cameras to see if they have captured anything of relevance.

 

“Lastly, I would ask any motorists with dashcam who were driving in Westham Road at the time to please review their footage and contact us if they have captured any footage of relevance to our investigation.”
